The will to survive is amazingly strong. In the US alone, fifty thousand people disappear every year. Though 95% are accounted for, that leaves twenty five hundred mysterious disappearances annually. If a community that large disappeared, it would be newsworthy. When a group of thirty two disappear from the small town of Eldridge Tennessee, the government must step in and make an account. The suspected truth cannot become common knowledge. It has happened before and the survivors brought back technology to advance their country’s military ten years. Every modern country wants the secret and agents lay in wait.
The thirty-two who disappeared are thrown into a different world and must adapt in order to survive. They discover seven dimensions (worlds that have developed along the same lines as our own but histories changed making them different). The worlds that are aware of the others are more advanced. The path is circular and this group must pass through all seven worlds to return. The call of home is strong and the group must learn the courage it takes to walk the Path of Seven.

Path of Seven eBook Norman Robertson Paula Cook

This is just plainly a great book. It's very well written, well edited, flows smoothly, and keeps you interested. I was a little confused at the beginning with all the background on the teenagers who are the main characters in the story and the typical teenage angst. I kept thinking that the book description must be wrong. But I stuck with it because it was really, really well written, and even though I haven't been a teenager for a looooong time, I found that I really did care what was happening to those kids. The background sets the stage for the interactions and relationships between all the characters as events unfold, so if you're put off a little bit in the beginning like I was just stick with it - it does have bearing on the rest of the story.

This book is appropriate for a wide range of readers. It is not however "light" reading. In the alternate worlds the situations and circumstances the characters eventually find themselves in are realistically stark and brutal. The true enduring quality of the story is in how the characters respond to and mature with those events.

This is the first book in a series and I went back to see if the next book had been released yet when I had finished this one. Sometimes when an author is writing a series the books are very short, and the story feels incomplete. That is not the case with this one. It is a complete novel length book all on its own. I plan to get the next one in the series when it comes out.

Path of Seven eBook Norman Robertson Paula Cook Reviews

I've read a lot of books, but this is the absolute best. I've never read a book where the conversations between the characters were so detailed. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will not want to put it down until you have finished it. You become attached to the kids and the people in the small town that has to endure so much. It is a great read for all ages. Nothing disgraceful about this book. If you like science fiction, you will love it. I would love to see the book made into a movie. As I read it, I could see the action in my mind and it was almost as if I were a part of it. I've read the book twice now and will read it again and again before the next one comes out. I'll keep nudging the author to get the second book done. He is one of a kind, just like his book.
Better than average. Not being a survivalist I'm not sure of the details but I did enjoy it.
Started slow while he built the characters, but picked up nicely. Couldn't wait to find time to pick it back up again while on vacation. Each world had me wondering how they would make it out alive. Especially thought provoking was the world where they were hunted down as part of a popular television show.....kept me on the edge of my seat.
I loved this book and can't wait for the next one in the series! It was very well written and the story flowed nicely. As you are reading, you will find yourself becoming immersed in the lives and adventures of the characters. Hurry up and write the next one )
I read this book in one weekend. I've seen a series on tv in the 1980's about the Bremuda Triangle being a gateway. But this is mind blowing. The concept is well thought out and leaves just enough mystery for expansion of the series of books. I can't wait to read the next on!!
I'm entering this review of Path of Sevenby Norman S. Robertson and Paula R. Cook as a recommended read for everyone. I found it totally captivating. The writing is accessible for a wide age range of readers. Great effort has been put forth to engage the reader in the conversation and every day life of the characters. As the action picks up the book becomes difficult to put down. The adventure and excitement that abounds around every corner, and through each new gate causes this book to entrance its readers. Each new adventure keeps pulling you forward into the story. The plot of Path of Seven is fast paced, precise and perfect. It is a truly captivating tale. The characters are true to life and the unlikely become "heroes". The descriptive writing will put you deep into the adventure of each "world" or "reality". A return visit to Path of Seven will be on the wish list of every reader. This is a terrific book and I see great things in store for Norman Robertson and Paula Cook.
The story doesn't get interesting until 10% in. There are a ton of characters to keep up with, but the details about each one are superficial so it's not too difficult. The 32 missing people find themselves in a random place and have big adventures trying to get back home - involving basic survival, travel through different worlds, and government cover-up.

I like that even though it's a big group of teenagers, there's no drama about sex (which runs rampant in dystopia). Everyone pairs off a little too nicely but that just means the story is about the story and not about overly emotional sex drives. I also love stories about survival - bow hunting, fires, fishing, and scavenging.

The reason it gets 3 stars instead of 4 - many of the transitions between one point of view and another have a choppy feel. It's not always clear what the author is referring to (or who he is referring to). It feels like every so often a sentence or page break is missing.

In the last few pages, you kind of feel like what was the point of it all, but then you see there's a sequel... "The Rogue World" is available to borrow for free with Prime so I'll read that too. The potential for greatness is there!
