Readers who are unfamiliar with Habitat for Humanity's work at the community level will learn something. And those who have worked on Habitat builds will enjoy reading with insider knowledge.

John Sandford and Patricia Cornwell have always been my favorite crime story authors. Now I add Donna McGinty to that list of favorites with this novel which is unlike the usual story of law enforcement detectives and other professionals who, practically by themselves only,bring the story to an end with lots of twists and turns on the way to exposing the "who dunnit" at the end. This story has the twists and turns of the official investigations but the villain is eventually revealed mainly through the efforts of an exceptionally smart and sensitive woman in rural North Georgia who simply hired a stranger, the eventual victim who had construction experience, to be a project superintendent to build a new home for a disadvantaged family. Out of horror on actually witnessing the murder by an unknown sniper assailant at the jobsite, along with strong feelings of sympathy for any relatives of the murdered man,she wants to find out herself why the murder of the hired stranger and who did it. "Habitat for Murder" was such a fun book that I read it twice. The first time was a rush to see how the murder was solved, and the second time was to enjoy the colorful characters in the story. It is to be hoped that the author has another Billie Quinn mystery in the works for I, for one, want to know what happens to Billie and what kind of trouble she stumbles into next.
Book arrived on time & in excellent condition. The author is a friend & I have not had a chance to read it yet....it is next on my list.
A light mystery that is well-written and held my interest. It has a good plot, interesting characters, and is relatively a quick read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Donna McGinty's Habitat for Murder and tracking the familiar areas in Georgia! The twists and turns in the plot had me thinking, "Just one more chapter". I just didn't want it to end. I was totally surprised when the conclusion wasn't as I had predicted. A great read!
Donna McGinty has spun a fine tale of suspense in Habitat for Murder. Billie Quinn is pondering what to do with her inheritance. In the meantime she joins a Habitat project and helps build a house, but right away her field manager is killed by a gunshot from afar. Accident, or murder? Follow Billie as she delves further and further into a long-ago feud, mistaken identity, and a reluctant sheriff. Has she poked her nose into the wrong place? Suddenly her tranquil life waxes hazardous.
Don't miss this one.
