They have been brought so low, they don't know how to be whole again. We first met Finn in Slip of the Tongue. He is a struggling Photographer who is a romantic at heart and believes in fate. But so far fate hasn't been kind to Finn. He was forced into a loveless marriage and suffered a bitter divorce while struggling to stay connected to his daughter. After another failed relationship he has doubts about where his life is headed. But maybe fate does have a plan for Finn when he finds a provocative journal left behind at his usual table in the coffee shop. I love the ease of how Ms Hawkins describes what is happening around, and with, Finn & Halston. I felt fully ensconced, like I was right there, experiencing every action, thought and emotion with them. Their relationship progression was lovely, frustrating, heartwarming, and very hot and sensual. They helped each other feel stronger and more confident, but it was never an easy journey as they struggled to overcome past mistakes. Finn is so sweet, thoughtful, and commanding. He was the perfect fit to temper Halstons impulsiveness. I loved how smart, and loyal she was and how she really came into her own throughout the book. This is a beautifully poetic, exhilarating, and sexy story that will have you engaged from beginning to end and leave you wanting more.

Finn & Halston.
Finn... I rooted for you in "Slip of the Tongue". Not because of Sadie. Because of you. Because of how WONDERFUL YOU are. In my review for that book I specially said I wanted more of YOU. So glad she listened. haha.
Finn meets Halston in this book. His Soul Mate. Well technically first he meets her Journal. And oh my.
Halston tries to be put together. She writes her "bad" thoughts in a journal. A journal NO ONE is ever suppose to read. But Finn finds it.
And sparks fly ladies and gents.
“Finn was meant to find that journal. To find me. To be a salve for, and perhaps even heal, a heart I’d worried was destined to ache forever.”
Every book of Jessica's that I read I'm more taken in. Her writing is beautiful. I feel like she is writing directly from my soul....
There was some points in this book Halston did feel very selfish and i was wanting to punch her in the face for making my sweet, romantic, erotic boyfriend upset. But i get it. She had issues.
Will be doing a re-read of this someday.. Absolutely devoured this book. <3
It was okay. I love Finn and I honestly want him to have his own book. I find Finn loving, romantic and caring not to mention how incredibly hot and sexy he is. But as much as I want to love this book and give a higher rating...I just couldn't. I think this book is not for me. I find it long and dragging and I just got tired of reading it in between. Normally, I would read a book in a day. This took me three days to finish. The story just didn't grip to me hard enough. Halston is a good character, I don't question their sexual chemistry...but then again, their story dragged and I found it weak that even if they had the HEA, it didn't feel satisfying. Giving this book 3.5 stars.
I am normally a very fast reader. I can easily consume a book in 5 hours. That is never the case with a Jessica Hawkins book. I take my time; I read slowly and savor every word as if it is the last. I a story of love. allow myself to fall into the world created and live the life of the story as if I'm the creepiest of stalkers. I'm unapologetic for that move.
Finn and Halston are more than a story of love. Actually, they are far from a love story. Theirs is a story of passion, trust, inspiration, and ultimately all-consuming love. A love that is often addictive and scary. A love that pushes boundaries in a way that is both beautiful and frightening.
We met Finn in Slip of the Tongue and had a glimpse of him, of who he is as a man, and the choices he has made. It was with Halston that we truly saw him. Saw his struggles, his own demons, his own fight for what he believed he wanted and deserved. Halston brings to the surface much of what he has failed to see in himself.
Halston, oh my sweet Halston. Her heart is kind and it is true and watching her struggle through her life broke me a little with each page. Questioning her worth and the actions of others were true was so real and so very raw. The life she led before Finn was not one she chose and I loved watching her grow and find her way.
If I was able to give 500 stars I would. Finn and Halston are scorching hot, they are complicated, and they are broken and damaged. But, together they are a perfect picture of what love can be.
